Leureuna Gilbert, Evangelist
Leureuna Gilbert is the evangelist from the Arlington Road Church of Christ in Hopewell, Virginia. He has been privileged to preach at the "well" since 2001. He grew up in Rochester, NY and was added to the Church of Christ in 1977 at the age of twelve and began to preach at the age of thirteen. He is a graduate of Edison Technical and Occupational Education Center in Rochester, NY. He is proud alumnus of Southwestern Christian College and the College of the Air Force. After Southwestern, he entered the military and spent ten years in support of this great country. During his time in the military he received many commendations and merits of honor and was part of the initial deployment to Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He also participated in a number of other real-time military operations and deployments.
He continued to preach and teach while in the military and served as youth minister while stationed in Illinois (1991 - 1995). It was there he answered a lifelong calling to preach full time and after the mentorship of Bro. Ralph P. Smith, Sr., Evangelist (Centreville, IL), and the endorsement of the church, he was formally and publicly ordained into the ministry full time.
He preached in Burlington/Willingboro, New Jersey for 51/2 years before relocating to Hopewell, Virginia. He and his lovely wife Lia Ann, have three sons: William, Wesley, and Wynton. He loves to preach, sing, listen to good music, and play golf. Among his proudest accomplishments have been studying the Word of God and witnessing the powerful effect it has on peoples lives. In 2000, he hosted the Great Summer Debate - Is Baptism Essential to Salvation?
Leureuna Gilbert is a continual learner and is furthering his educational pursuit at Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary studying Biblical Leadership and Ministry with a concentration in Christian Management and Leadership. He was recently chosen to be listed in the "Heritage Registry of Who's Who". One of his favorite scriptures is Psalm 23:6, "Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the House of the LORD Forever".
